Assembly
Preparation:
Press all the pieces of your Cateau out from the cardboard background, pressing them up from the back side.Before assembling each piece, bend it carefully along any score lines using extra care on portico front piece.
Pop out window, door and slot pieces, pressing from front side.
1st Step: Walls and Bottom
Set body of your Cateau on its side. Bend tabs and flap marked A inward, and then insert tabs marked A into slots marked A (Make sure both the tabs and the flap with slots end up on the inside). Then fold in bottom flaps in order marked ( 1,2,3 ), and push flap 3 through opening formed by 1 and 2 to create locking bottom. Set Cateau upright and put floor piece in bottom.
2nd Step: Roof
Fold roof firmly in half along seam before placement (Direction to front of roof is shown on tabs). Fold tabs inward. Make sure flaps at slot B are well-folded down and inward. Slide corners of roof down a little into corners formed by obelisks. Then thread ball finial (watch out for bending it) through slot in roof, and thread tab at front gable through its roof slot. Push down roof and guide tabs B into slots B and push tabs home. If tabs are difficult to insert all the way. Reach into Cateau and pull them through from the inside (Flaps and tabs should end up inside the Cateau).
3rd Step: Porch Base
Turn down sides of porch base. Bend in tabs C. Turn porch base upside down and fold front up and over tabs C until tabs D lock into shallow slots at inside fold. Position porch base in front of your Cateau and push tabs E into slots E. Hold floor down so it stays under tabs E.
4th Step: Dormer
Fold sides of dormer piece inward. Insert tabs F into slots F. Bend up portico ceiling (tabs at front of portico ceiling will go into slots at sides of portico front).
5th step: Portico
Fold columns inward along crease (try to fold each side as evenly along its length as possible). Push tabs G into slots in porch base. Push tabs H towards slots marked H, while pushing up portico ceiling to a flat position. Place portico ceiling tabs in slots at sides of portico front, then push home tabs H.
